We are happy to hear that you have been invited to join a live video interview! All companies have their live interviews set up to how they prefer and may use a video call system out side of HireVue. If the interview is taking place within HireVue and you are encountering some difficulty, please see the information below.
How do I give camera and microphone permissions if they have been blocked?
The steps to give camera and microphone permissions will vary depending on the device and operating system you are using. Here are some general guidelines:
-
-
- Ensure that your browser settings allow the camera and microphone to be accessed. See Required Device and Settings for more information.
- Check if the camera and microphone are enabled in your device's settings.
- Go to your device's settings menu and look for the privacy or permissions settings.
- If the app permissions are correct and the camera and microphone are still not working, try reloading the browser window.
-
I can't see my video. What could be wrong?
If you're having trouble seeing yourself in the interview, there are several things you can try:
-
-
- Check that your camera is turned on and connected properly. Make sure the camera lens is not covered or obstructed.
- In the interview, click the video icon to start your video. If the video icon has a line through it, it means your video is turned off. Click on the icon to turn it on.
- Check that your camera is selected as the video source in the interview settings. To do this, select Settings.
- Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for running live video interviews.
- Restart your browser to see if that resolves the issue.
-
I can't seem to get my audio or video working for the interview. What should I do?
In the event that you have tried all troubleshooting techniques and your video and/or audio is still not functioning, use the Call in from a phone link on the Ready to Join page to join the interview via phone. You can also contact your recruiter or interviewer for more direction.
How can I test my audio and video before the interview?
If you want to test your camera and microphone before navigating to the live interview URL, try the following suggestions:
-
-
- Open the Camera app on your computer. This will allow you to test your webcam and microphone. In the Camera app, you should see a preview of your webcam. If you don't see a preview, make sure your webcam is connected properly to your computer and is turned on.
- Click the microphone icon in the Camera app to test your microphone. You should see a green bar moving up and down as you speak into the microphone. If you don't see the green bar moving, make sure your microphone is connected properly to your computer and is turned on.
- You can also use an online video and audio testing website like "webcammictest.com" or "zoom.us/test" to test your camera, microphone and speakers.
- As early as 30 minutes before the interview start time, you will have the option of testing your audio and video.
